ABOUT

I’m a travel writer and photographer based in the cool coastal city of Newcastle, Australia. I travel the globe (and Australia), often with my Frequent Small Flyer Ella by my side. She's an incredible traveller (you should see her passport!). My passions are islands, beaches, wellness, good coffee and tropical cocktails. I spend an inordinate amount of time looking for good coffee (embarrassingly, I sometimes plan my travel around it), and I've always got a book or two on the go. 

At home we live in a beautiful, historic terrace by the sea filled with treasures found on our travels. We're incredibly fortunate to live just around the corner (literally a barefoot stroll) from two beaches, a salt water ocean pool, a working harbour and a city undergoing a mighty transformation. We are myself Sheriden Rhodes, travel writer and photographer; my husband Tom (not a bad photographer himself), our daughter Ella (aka the Frequent Small Flyer) and our kelpie Coco. Even Coco has been bitten by the travel bug and loves nothing more than hitting the road for an adventure (head out of the window of course).

I hope this blog inspires you to explore new places, and take the road well travelled, not simply the same road travelled over and over by everyone else. Or at least if you do venture down that popular road, I hope to inspire you to travel it in the best way possible. I'll go ahead of you to uncover the best a destination has to offer.
